Social Media News

Instagram

Notes to posts & reels – Users can now share notes on posts from friends or brands in real-time, and view reactions from others while scrolling through their feed. Notes can be seen only by followers who follow back or those in the "close friends" group, making the feature more intimate and personal.

Text editing on static posts – You can now add text to your images and graphics inside the post editor before texting. Great to save you time on Canva if you’re in a hurry!

Multiple songs on reels – You can now add up to 20 audios to a single reel. They can even be overlapping or merging into each other, in order to fit the different sections of your reel.

TikTok

Eventbrite Partnership - TikTok have announced they have partnered with Eventbrite enabling content creators to promote and sell event tickets directly through the app.

Threads

In-app camera – It has been reported that the app is testing an in-app camera function, allowing users to snap photos without leaving Threads.

Sports scores – Threads has recently begun integrating sports scores into its search results, starting with NBA games. This is a strategic move aimed at attracting a more diverse user base, offering quick updates for sports fans.

YouTube

Community Spaces - YouTube is testing out Community Spaces which enables channel fans to engage and interact via text posts in a dedicated space.

Trending Audios

Let’s talk trending audios! A trending audio teamed with a great video and concept can elevate a reel from ok to amazing! Let’s look at what audios have been trending this month:

1-Second Finger Click Audio – Remember the recent 1-second blink trend that took over our reels feed? Whether you loved it or hated it, it has inspired a new trend: the 1-second finger click audio. This type of 1 second audio is thought to "trick" the algorithm, potentially boosting your views thanks to its brief duration.

Match my freak? We love this one! This audio features the lyrics, “Is somebody gonna match my freak,” and users are getting creative by showcasing their unique, quirky, or relatable habits and traits. It’s an excellent way to connect with your target audience and boost engagement.

What’s Trending right now on Social Media?

Head’s up – Emily in Paris is coming soon!

Our favourite Social Media guru, Emily in Paris is returning soon for a fourth season on 15th August (YEYYY!) so look out for memes and related audios & reels taking over your feeds in the coming weeks. Netflix are pulling a “Bridgerton” on us and splitting the series into two parts with the first five episodes dropping on 15th August and the final five dropping on 12th September so there will be plenty of time to try an Emily in Paris trend! @Bustle are ahead of the game with this meme – and pairing it with the opening of the Olympics in Paris – genius!

Charli XCX Brat Summer

Charli XCX's new album "Brat" has sparked a summer trend that dethrones Barbie pink for a green and grungy vibe, defined by party antics, cool-girl style, and lime green everything. "Brat Girl Summer" is about a carefree, rebellious, and fun-loving attitude, embracing unapologetic self-expression and empowerment. Since the album's release, Gen Z has wholeheartedly embraced this trend, with #bratsummer amassing over 58k posts on TikTok. The green "brat" aesthetic is everywhere, from slime green merchandise to marketing campaigns. This movement is all about enjoying life to the fullest, being confident and bold, and not caring about others' opinions, perfectly aligning with Charli XCX's celebration of individuality and nonconformity. And of course, the album’s audio’s are trending on Instagram & TikTok – our favourite is Apple – so catchy!
