What is Instagram’s pinning post feature?
Introduced earlier this year, Insta’s pinning feature allows users to pin up to three posts to the top of your grid. Similar to features on Facebook & Twitter, when you pin posts, they will stay at the top of the grid until you manually remove them or switch them over. The great thing about Instagram’s pinning feature is that you can post up to three not just one AND this includes both posts & reels – hurrah! You can easily see if a post is pinned as you will see a small white pin at the top right-hand corner of the post.
Why pinning posts is useful
If you post regularly (which, if you are a small business owner, you should!) you will know that the more you post, the further down your page your older posts go until they are likely forgotten and no longer seen by visitors to your page. The pinning feature allows you to save important posts to the top of your feed to ensure they do not get lost as you post new content.
How to pin & unpin a post
Pinning & unpinning posts & reels is super easy! Simply tap on the post you want to pin, head to the three dots in the top right-hand corner and then tap the “Pin to Your Profile” option on the menu and voila, your post will pin to the top of your page! To unpin a post, head to the three dots on your post again and tap “Unpin From Your Profile” and the post will automatically return to its place in your chronological feed. Note that pinned posts will appear in the order you pin them so the first will appear on the right and the last on the left.

Pinning posts is such a great feature especially for small business owners using Instagram to promote their brand.
